Chasing the success of A24's Backrooms, Warner Bros is set to assemble a feature based on the viral horror meme from Trevor Henderson, a Canadian horror artist and illustrator. Popularly called the 'Siren Head meme,' the film based on it will be directed by Brian Duffield (Spontaneous) from a script he co-wrote with Weapons helmer Zach Cregger.

Cregger and Duffield will produce the upcoming internet-rooted horror, along with Roy Lee, Andrew Childs, and Scott Glassgold, with the rights holder Henderson serving as an executive producer.

The 'Siren Head' meme broke the internet in 2018, which features a 40-foot-tall, gaunt monster that hunts in rural towns and wooded areas across North America. The predator is dangerous for its ability to blend into environments and for its eerily distorted audio broadcasts that confuse its prey. The Siren Head IP revolves around hand-drawn monsters digitally composited into real photographs by Henderson.

Popular for his work on the Kaitlyn Dever-fronted sci-fi horror No One Will Save You, Duffield's next survival thriller, Whalefall, is set for release on October 16. Cregger, best known for Barbarian and Weapons, will be releasing his Resident Evil movie on September 18. Cregger, along with Lee, is also producing a new dark comedy, Little One, directed by debutant Alex Kavutskiy.
