3 months after its theatrical release, Ryan Gosling's sci-fi theatrical outing, Project Hail Mary, is all set to be available for streaming on OTT. The announcement was made by the film's official X page on Wednesday.
Project Hail Mary is helmed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who have adapted it from a screenplay by Drew Goddard, which is based on Andy Weir's novel Project Hail Mary. The plot follows an astronaut (Gosling) on a space mission, where he must figure out how a substance or entity makes the sun die out and must find a solution for it to prevent extinction on Earth.
Project Hail Mary is all set to premiere on Prime Video on July 3. Previously, the directors revealed that they did not employ any blue screen or green screen for the film's production, although they admitted that it does have many VFX shots.
The film brings Ryan Gosling back to the big screen after 2024's action-comedy The Fall Guy. It also stars Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, Milana Vayntrub, and Priya Kansara, among others.
An excerpt from CE's review of the film reads, "Ryan Gosling anchors the film, portraying Grace’s vulnerability, weakness, empathy, and courage with grace. On the other hand, Sandra Huller effectively embodies the impending doom and humanity's insurmountable will to survive against all odds."
The film has reportedly earned more than $600 million at the box office. Jeremy Hansen, the astronaut who is currently navigating the stars aboard the Artemis II mission, and his NASA crewmates—Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Reid Wiseman—watched the film before embarking on a lunar expedition in April. Hansen issued an effusive review of the film praising the filmmakers and the lead actor.
