Prime Video has greenlighted a new thriller series, titled Dirty. The upcoming series is created by Oscar nominated writer Matt Charman.
Dirty is based on an original story from Charman and follows Trainee Detective Eva Bennett, who returns to Manchester, UK, to work on a murder investigation. Bennett is forced to grapple with the uncovering of the long-buried truths about her mother, Chief Inspector Lois Mercer, who is a fearsome officer, estranged from Eva.
Speaking about the series, Charman said, "I love the power and the volatility of these two women. There are no limits on what either of them is capable of, which makes the potential of every scene explosive. Nicole (Clemens, VP, International Originals, Amazon MGM Studios) and the entire team at Amazon understood the show instantly — they’re deeply passionate about the blend of character-driven drama and relentless propulsion. I can’t wait to share what we’ve been cooking up."
Binocular and Amazon MGM Studios are backing the Dirty which is set to begin production in September.
Charman was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for his work on Steven Speilberg's Bridge of Spies.
