Prime Video's God of War series finds its Heimdall in Max Parker
Prime Video has announced that actor Max Parker will essay the role of Norse God Heimdall, in the upcoming series, God of War. Parker joins Ryan Hurst, who headlines the series, essaying the character of Kratos.
God of War will be an adaptation of the 2022 video game God of War: Ragnarok. The series will follow the journey of Kratos and his son Atreus, as they journey to spread the ashes of Atreus' mother, Faye. In their journey, Kratos teaches his son to be a better god, while Atreus teaches his father to be a better human.
The official character description of Parker's character, Heimdall reads, "The Watchman of Asgard, and one of the sons of Odin, Heimdall is a god in his own right with the special ability to anticipate what’s about to happen at any moment. Handsome and dynamic, he feels unappreciated by his father and underestimated by the rest of the family, and as a result Heimdall is constantly looking for ways to improve his position in the hierarchy and increase his stature and power."
The widely known depiction of Heimdall, is Idris Elba's portrayal in various films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially the Thor films.
Ronald D Moore serves as the showrunner for God of War. Frederick EO Toye, who has worked on Shogun, is set to direct the first two episodes of the series. Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Tall Ship Productions and Amazon MGM Studios are backing the series.
Parker was recently seen in Netflix's military drama Boots. He received the Visibility Award from the Human Rights Campaign, for his role in Boots.
