Gracie Abrams is expanding her creative horizons, with the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter set to make her acting debut in an upcoming A24 feature titled Please. The film will be written and directed by Halina Reijn, who recently helmed Babygirl.
While story details are being closely guarded, the project is described as a period drama centred on female characters and is expected to continue Reijn’s exploration of provocative, emotionally charged relationships, a space she previously navigated with Babygirl.
The film brings Reijn back together with producer David Hinojosa, marking their third collaboration after Babygirl and Bodies Bodies Bodies. Hinojosa will produce through his A24-backed banner following the success of The Materialists, while Reijn will produce under Man Up Film. A24 is financing and producing the feature, with Zach Nutman on board as executive producer.
Abrams, known for songs such as 'I Love You', 'I’m Sorry' and 'That’s So True', has built a strong following as a singer-songwriter and recently completed her first solo arena tour across North America, after previously opening for artists including Taylor Swift.
The musician, who is the daughter of filmmaker JJ Abrams and executive Katie McGrath, is also preparing to release new music ahead of the film. Expected sometime in 2026, Abrams has described the upcoming work as deeply personal. “It’s definitely my favourite music I’ve ever made, and I feel very closely connected to it,” she told The Hollywood Reporter, adding that she values how her albums capture specific moments in her life. “Right now it does feel very like me. I hope that whoever finds it connects with it and makes it theirs.”
