Prime Video has unveiled the first look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, from the upcoming series, Tomb Raider. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, known for Fleabag and Killing Eve, has created Tomb Raider.
The upcoming action adventure series is based on the video game franchise of the same name, which was created by Core Design. The first game in the series was released in 1996. With Waller-Bridge serving as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer, Tomb Rider, also has Chad Hodge as co-showrunner and executive producer, and Jonathan Van Tulleken who will serve as director and executive producer.
The cast of Tomb Raider also includes Martin Bobb-Semple as Zip, Jason Isaacs as Atlas DeMornay, Bill Paterson as Winston, Jack Bannon as Gerry, John Heffernan as David, Celia Imrie as Francine, Paterson Joseph as Thomas Warner, Sasha Luss as Sasha, Juliette Motamed as Georgia, August Wittgenstein as Lukas, and Sigourney Weaver as Evelyn Wallis.
"I’ve been a long-time fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara. She has always felt for me, very emboldened in a male dominated world. She’s a fierce female role model," said Turner.
Meanwhile, creator Waller-Bridge said, "Tomb Raider boasts a plethora of iconic characters. I am thrilled to have been able to bring some personal and fan favourites to the screen while also introducing a few new rascals of our own to the mix."
