Earlier, we reported about the Game of Thrones spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms being set to release on January 19 this year. Actor Peter Claffey plays an important character named Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall in the series, whose events predate Game of Thrones by decades. Adapted by creators George RR Martin and Ira Parker based on Martin's novel series Tales of Dunk and Egg, its story revolves around the adventures of Claffey's character and a squire across Westeros. Speaking of which, there have been comparisons between the upcoming series and Game of Thrones in terms of their common universe of Westeros. Speaking about the world-renowned HBO series and his character in the upcoming spinoff, Claffey said, "I was a big fan of Game of Thrones, the original TV show and I obviously knew the world, but I didn't know of the book of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. I had heard of Ser Duncan the Tall sporadically but I got these couple of scenes, didn't really know what they were and just tried to give them the best shot I could."
Peter Claffey also talked about diving deeper into the role after the makers of the series confirmed his casting. Reminiscing about the callback he received, the actor said, " I got a recall which meant, ‘Oh God, there's something that they actually liked,’ and obviously you get further down the line and closer and closer to it… I was losing sleep and terrified knowing I was so close." The actor shared that he "must have done something right" in order to finally land the role.
Besides Claffey, the series stars Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen, Danny Webb as Ser Arlan of Pennytree, Sam Spruell as Maekar Targaryen, Shaun Thomas as Raymun Fossoway, Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen, Edward Ashley as Ser Steffon Fossoway, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Henry Ashton as Daeron Targaryen, Youssef Kerkour as Steely Pate, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as Plummer and Daniel Monks as Ser Manfred Dondarrion.
JioHotstar will start streaming the series from January 19 onwards, also with dubs in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
