The Golden Globes will once again kick off Hollywood’s awards season on January 12, with the 83rd edition of the ceremony taking place at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The show will begin at 6.30 am IST and will be streamed live in India on Lionsgate Play.

Known for its champagne-fuelled atmosphere, the Globes this year feature a star-studded list of nominees, including Timothée Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael B Jordan, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Emma Stone.

Host and telecast details

Comedian and actor Nikki Glaser returns as host for the second consecutive year, following her widely praised debut in 2025 that made her the first woman to host the Globes solo. Her opening monologue last year, which cheekily dubbed the event “Ozempic’s biggest night”, struck a balance between sharp humour and crowd-pleasing wit.

Despite a decline from a decade ago, last year’s broadcast attracted around 10 million viewers, making the Globes the most-watched awards show after the Oscars and the Grammys.

Key film and TV nominations

One Battle After Another leads the film nominations with nine nods, including acting mentions for Leonardo DiCaprio and Chase Infiniti, and a directing nomination for Paul Thomas Anderson. Classified as a musical or comedy, the film sees DiCaprio competing against Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme) and George Clooney (Jay Kelly).

Infiniti faces competition from Cynthia Erivo (Wicked: For Good), Emma Stone (Bugonia) and Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You). In the drama categories, the Danish film Sentimental Value follows closely with eight nominations, including one for Renate Reinsve. Her fellow nominees include Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Julia Roberts (After the Hunt) and Jennifer Lawrence (Die My Love).

Among male drama contenders are Michael B. Jordan (Sinners) and Dwayne Johnson (The Smashing Machine). Supporting acting nominees include Ariana Grande, Teyana Taylor, Paul Mescal, Adam Sandler and Jacob Elordi.

On the television side, The White Lotus leads all nominees with six.

Presenters and special honours

This year’s presenters range from established stars like George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Queen Latifah to younger names such as Heated Rivalry leads Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Miley Cyrus, Zoë Kravitz, Kevin Hart, Melissa McCarthy, Snoop Dogg and Lisa of Blackpink are also among the presenters.

Helen Mirren will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in film, while Sarah Jessica Parker will be honoured with the Carol Burnett Award for her contributions to television. A separate gala celebrating both awards will air as a special titled Golden Eve ahead of the main ceremony.
