The much-anticipated live-action Tangled film is quickly taking shape with the makers selecting key cast members to begin production on the adaptation. A day after announcing Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, Walt Disney Studios is currently in talks with Kathryn Hahn to play Mother Gothel. If confirmed, Kathryn Hahn will once again be channeling her inner sinister side after her critically-acclaimed role as Agatha Harkness in WandaVision (2021) and Agatha All Along (2024).
Helmed by The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey, the upcoming film has been scripted by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge, Thor: Love and Thunder, I Know What You Did Last Summer).
Tangled (2010) tells the story of Rapunzel, a princess with long hair that has magical powers to heal people. She is kept away from the public's eye and locked in a high tower by Mother Gothel. One day, she secretly escapes with the help of Flynn Rider and goes on an adventure exploring the world she has never seen. However, Mother Gothel has sinister motives and is ready to get back Rapunzel at any cost.
The film, directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, was critically and highly commercially acclaimed upon release, earning over $591 million worldwide. Its success spawned a franchise, including a short film, Tangled Ever After (2012), a video game, a stage musical, and a television series which premiered in 2017.
Australian actor Teagan Croft is known for Titans and True Spirit while Milo Manheim is the star of Disney Channel's Zombies franchise.
