This March, we can all head back to the quaint town of Virgin River, as Netflix announced on Wednesday that the seventh season of the series is set to premiere on March 12. Production for the small-town drama was wrapped up back in June 2025. The series stars Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson in the lead roles.
The romantic drama series is based on the Virgin River novels by Robyn Carr. Virgin River revolves around Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), who serves as a midwife and nurse practitioner in the remote Northern California town of Virgin River. As her life moves in the small town, she discovers that living there is more complex than expected.
Season 6 ended with the wedding of Jack (Martin Henderson) and Melinda. The couple's wedding was a long-awaited event, considering they've been engaged since Season 4. Further, at the end of season 6, one of Mel's pregnant patients is looking to place her baby with the couple after the initial adoptive parents backed out. This development brings new hope to Mel and Jack, especially given their past struggles with fertility. The possibility of starting a family of their own might finally become a reality for the loving couple.
Developed by Sue Tenney, Virgin River features an ensemble cast including Colin Lawrence, Jenny Cooper, Lauren Hammersley, Annette O'Toole, Tim Matheson, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Marco Grazzini, Mark Ghanimé, and Kai Bradbury, among others.
Fans can also look forward to fresh faces in Virgin River. The Vampire Diaries alum Sara Canning and Riverdale’s Cody Kearsley have joined the cast in recurring roles this season. Canning plays a former cop-turned-medical investigator who arrives in town to look into Doc’s (Tim Matheson) practice, setting off one of the season’s central conflicts. Her arrival also sparks a possible reunion with a familiar face from her past.
