Netflix has unveiled the first look at its upcoming drama series, Pride and Prejudice. A short teaser for the upcoming series, which consists of six episodes, was also released.
Dolly Alderton adapts Jane Austen's novel of the same name for the streamer. Speaking about the series, Alderton said, "Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it. Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy — it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life. The book is a gift to adapt — packed with drama and depth as well as comedy and charm. In it lies the opportunity to examine the complexities of love, family, friendship, and society, while aspiring to Austen’s delightfully observational voice."
Emma Corrin, who portrayed Diana, Princess of Wales in The Crown, is leading the cast as Elizabeth Bennet. Meanwhile, Jack Lowden, who was seen as Sauron in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, will portray Mr Darcy.
Other cast members include Olivia Colman, Rufus Sewell, Freya Mavor, Rhea Norwood, Hopey Parish, Hollie Avery, Jamie Demetriou, Daryl McCormack, Louis Partridge, Siena Kelly, Fiona Shaw, Anjana Vasan, Sebastian Armesto, Rosie Cavaliero, Saffron Coomber, James Dryden, Justin Edwards, James Northcote, Eloise Webb, and Isabella Sermon.
A release date for the series is yet to be announced.
