A few hours ago, Prime Video dropped the first official trailer and announced the release date of its series Spider-Noir, which stars Nicolas Cage in the lead role. It has been slated for a May 27 release on the streaming platform. Unlike some of its other recent series, Prime Video will drop all the episodes of the Nicolas Cage starrer on the same date, shunning the sequential release model. Interestingly, it will be available on Prime Video in both colour and black-and-white formats.

The live-action adaptation of Marvel Comics' character Spider-Man Noir follows Cage's Ben Reilly, a seasoned detective experiencing a period of bad luck, in New York of the 1930s. Reilly grapples with a personal tragedy even as he comes to terms with the fact that he is the "one and only superhero" in New York City. Marvel Comics describe the character as a genetic clone of Peter Parker. Cage's character calls his situation "a bit of an existential crisis." The Spider-Noir trailer also features a visual of the character swinging through buildings in NYC similar to Spider-Man. The tagline reads, "With no power comes no responsibility," an antithesis to Uncle Ben's philosophy from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man franchise.

Spider-Noir marks Nicolas Cage's maiden leading role in a television series. It also stars Lamorne Morris, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson. Guest stars include Lukas Haas, Cary Christopher, Cameron Britton, Scott MacArthur, Michael Kostroff, Whitney Rice, Joe Massingill, Andrew Caldwell, Amanda Schull, Amy Aquino, Kai Caster, and Andrew Robinson.

Besides serving as an executive producer on it, Harry Bradbeer of Fleabag and Killing Eve fame directed the first and second episodes of the show. Steve Lightfoot and Oren Uziel also serve as executive producers and showrunners for the series. Lightfoot and Uziel developed it alongside Phil Lord, Amy Pascal, and Christopher Miller: the trio behind the Best Animated Feature Oscar winner Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Miller and Lord serve as executive producers under their eponymous shingle, alongside Dan Shear and Aditya Sood. Pascal also acts as an executive producer through her namesake banner. Pavlina Hatoupis and Nicolas Cage are part of the executive production team as well.
