USA's National Football League (NFL) ended on Sunday, with The Super Bowl, a final game that decides the winner of the NFL. But apart from being one of the biggest sports days of the USA, it is also a day when films offer audiences an insight. Catch up on the most notable film updates in this catalogue.

1. Disclosure Day

Steven Spielberg’s upcoming sci-fi flick, starring Josh O’Connor, Emily Blunt and Eve Hewson, hints at an invasion by extra-terrestrial beings. The Super Bowl trailer shows an enthusiastic Emily Blunt as a news presenter suddenly being bewitched by a foreign force, suggesting a world-changing event that could demolish the possibility of a “tomorrow.” Disclosure Day is scheduled to release on June 12.

2. Project Hail Mary

A commoner is affixed with a mission to save the world — this time, the sun is dying. While the previous trailers of the film gave a background to the project 'Hail Mary', the super bowl release titled ‘Final Trailer’ gives more insight into the dynamics between Rocky, the alien, and Ryland Grace, played by Ryan Gosling. Set to release on March 20, the film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

3. The Adventures of Cliff Booth

Brad Pitt returns as Cliff Booth, in a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019). Directed by David Fincher and written by Quentin Tarantino, The Adventures of Cliff Booth is set in the 1970s Los Angeles, referencing events from the first film. The film also stars Timothy Olyphant, Elizabeth Debicki and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and is releasing on Netflix.

4. Minions and Monsters

A 30-second glimpse of the upcoming sequel in the Minions franchise showed the Minions are once again found scheming — this time they’re seeking a monster to cast as a villain in a movie they’re directing. Pierre Coffin, famously known for his voice acting first three films in the Despicable Me franchise and the Minions (2015) movie, is also directing Minions and Monster. The film is set to release on July 1.

5. Supergirl

Fans got a glimpse of Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in a new teaser that aired in the puppy bowl segment of the Super Bowl. The new glimpse features a puppy, who would later become Krypto The Super-dog, getting adopted by Kara. The footage also shows her escape of the extinction of Krypton, her home planet. The film also stars Jason Momoa as Lobo and Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, with David Corenswet as Superman. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film is set to release on June 26.

6. Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu

The new trailer of the upcoming movie in the Star Wars franchise features the Mandalorian and Grogu (nicknamed Baby Yoda), on a carriage drawn by the Tauntauns (furry creatures from the universe).  Pedro Pascal reprises his role as Din Djarin/The Mandalorian alongside Jeremy Allen White who plays Rotta the Hutt. Scheduled to release on May 22, the film is directed by Jon Favreau, known for Iron Man (2008) and The Lion King (2019). 

7. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Mario (Chris Pratt) and his party team up to rescue Princess Peach, voiced by Anya Taylor Joy. As more characters from the game like Luigi, voiced by Charlie Day, Princess Rosalina, voiced by Brie Larson, come together to rescue Princess Peach, they’re joined by Yoshi, their dinosaur friend, on their mission. The film is scheduled to release on April 1.
