The Super Bowl wasn't just about football this year; The event saw the release of several upcoming teasers and trailers. Among them was DC Studios' third teaser for Craig Gillespie's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, starring Milly Alcock in the titular role. The teaser centers on the theme of ''Home'', which highlights the bright, hopeful world of Earth and her fierce companion Krypto.

The trailer, replete with haunting music, showed the formidable Krypto, Kara Zor-EI's pet, who is presented as a grubby, forsaken stray that a young Kara finds amongst the ruins of Argo City. This alternative to demonstrate Krypto as a vulnerable puppy highlights the shared trauma between Kara Zor-EI and Krypto. Witnessing the future Superdog as a tiny, wide-eyed puppy steals the show in the teaser, proving that even a warrior like Kara needs a best friend by her side.

The preview gave a glance at how Kara met the Superdog Krypto back when her native planet was still booming. “Krypton didn’t die in a day. The gods are not that kind,” she says over the burning shot.

“He sees the good in everyone. And I see the truth,” Supergirl's cousin Superman says in the video. Kara appears to be more skeptical about life in comparison to her cousin, Superman.

The film is built on the comic book by Tom King's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The comic explores the life of Kara Zor-EI on her 21st birthday. She joins forces with young alien girl Ruthye to hunt down the man who murdered her father. Together, they travel across the galaxy on a challenging mission of justice and revenge.

The cast is packed with an ensemble cast consisting of Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills; Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, a girl who takes on Supergirl to bring Krem to justice for killing her father; David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Supergirl’s parents; and Jason Momoa as the alien mercenary Lobo.

Supergirl is produced by DC Studios co-chairmen Peter Safran and James Gunn, and executive produced by Nigel Gostelow, Chantal Nong Vo and Lars P Winther. The film is set to be released in theatres by Warner Bros in the United States on June 26 this year.
