Elizabeth Chomko of What They Had fame is set to direct a drama from her own screenplay that explores a long distance relationship and that is titled Hello and Paris. Javier Bardem and Kate Hudson have been cast in the lead roles of the film, based on Deborah McKinlay’s novel That Part Was True. Producer Finola Dwyer of Best Picture Oscar nominees such as An Education and Brooklyn is attached to the project. Dwyer is set to produce the film along with Fifth Season.
According to reports, the film is similar to titles such as Sleepless in Seattle, You’ve Got Mail, and When Harry Met Sally. Following a not-so-comfortable first meeting in Paris, France, a novelist and a landscape architect start bonding over recipes and books. Over time, they realise that it is harder to decide not to be lonely as compared to experiencing loneliness.
Speaking about the film, Christopher Slager, Head of Film at Fifth Season, stated, "Elizabeth Chomko is a true generational talent, and we couldn’t be prouder to bring her brilliant adaptation to life in partnership with Finola Dwyer." Slager added, "Javier Bardem and Kate Hudson will sweep audiences off their feet. We can’t wait for the world to fall in love with this story the way we have."
On the other hand, Patrick Wachsberger, the head of Legendary Entertainment's 193 banner, which is representing sales for Hello and Paris at the Berlinale Film Market, said, "Visionary filmmaker Elizabeth Chomko has crafted a gorgeous love story, one that both fills the heart and delights the senses. With the incomparable duo of Javier Bardem and Kate Hudson in the lead roles, this film is reminiscent of the timeless classics we know and adore, but with a fresh twist – and a delicious dose of culinary indulgence."
