Dolly Parton, the American singer, songwriter, and actor has passed away at the age of 80. The announcement was made by Parton's nephew, Bryan Seaver, through a video message posted on Dolly Parton's Instagram handle.
Born in Tennessee, USA, in 1946 she recorded her first song, 'Puppy Love' at the age of 13. She later found subsequent success in the 70s and 80s, and continued to make songs until 2025.
She is well known for songs like 'I Will Always Love You', '9 to 5', 'Jolene', the latter of which was made into a story which was later adapted into a film starring Jessica Chastain.
'9 to 5' was from the eponymous film and Parton's first Oscar nomination. She was later nominated fro 'Travelin Thru' from the 2005 film, Transamerica. Parton received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 2025.
Parton starred in films like Steel Magnolias, Straight Talk, Rhinestone, among others.
Parton got married to Carl Dean in 1966. Dean passed away in 2025. Prior to her death she was battling health issues. She is survived by by her extended family.
