Actor Tramell Tillman expressed his frustration over having to keep his role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day a secret until the film's release. Speaking to GQ recently, Tillman said that he realised that he would have to sign an NDA before meeting the film's director Destin Daniel Cretton to discuss the role.
Tramell Tillman stars in Spider-Man: Brand New Day as Bill Metzger, the head of the Damage Control department, which ensures that people with super powers do not use their capabilities in harmful ways. Metzger also appears in the X-Men universe, and Marvel Studios wanted the actor to hide the connection between the mutant universe and the Spider-Man film.
Tillman found it challenging to deal with the mystery element of his role. "It was a little frustrating, because everything was shrouded in secrecy. So I wasn’t even sure specifically how the character would fit into the world of the movie, and I’m pretty sure they had to play their cards very close to the chest because they weren’t sure if I was going to accept it."
Interestingly, Tillman also likened his role to former US President Barack Obama. He said, "I had this inkling that Metzger had just a little bit of swag, a little smoothness. There’s a fullness, a calmness, a steadiness there."
