

Director Will Gluck is no stranger to rom-coms. But the director of films like Easy A (2010), Friends With Benefits (2011), and Anyone But You (2023) has a tradition of casting strong actors as the lead pair. In the spirit of Emma Stone-Penn Badgeley, Natalie Portman-Ashton Kutcher, and Sydney Sweeney-Glen Powell, Gluck's upcoming film One Night Only features Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner.
Sharing his excitement on casting Barbaro and Turner, through a statement, Gluck said, “When Callum and Monica are in the same frame, you just want to watch them be together. Not necessarily romantically, but I wanted to show them as friends, laughing at each other and truly enjoying themselves together. Once I saw them rehearsing together for the first time, I could not keep my eyes off them.”
Barbaro stars as Allie opposite to Turner's Owen in Gluck's One Night Only. Set in New York City, where the laws of romance are slightly altered, Allie and Owen who meet on a chance encounter, navigate the ebb and flow of their relationship, as a series of missteps and sidequests keep the pair away from each other continuously.
One Night Only is written by Travis Braun in his feature film debut. Braun, who shares Gluck's excitement for the lead pair, said, “Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro made me fall in love with Owen and Allie all over again. They are truly the perfect duo for this movie. They are not only so funny, but they also bring so much heart to their characters, and they have that special ingredient that you cannot capture on the page: chemistry.”
The cast of the film also includes includes Maya Hawke, Julia Fox, Charlie Gillespie, Michelle Hurd, King Princess, Quintessa Swindell, Andrew Burnap, Mike Birbiglia, with Molly Ringwald and LeVar Burton.
Gluck is producing One Night Only under his Olive Bridge Entertainment along with Jacqueline Monetta. The film opens in Indian theatres on August 21.
