The post-credit scene in Spider-Man: Brand New Day has fuelled fan speculation regarding the involvement of a Spider-Man other than the one played by Tom Holland in the future instalment of the franchise. The scene shows Ned Leeds' Spider-Man tracker detecting not only Peter Parker as he swings through Queens but another Spider-Man who soars into space and vanishes into a mysterious green orbit. Then, a piece of text appears teasing Spider-Man's return in the future chapter of the franchise.
Ever since the film's release, fans have been speculating about what the Spider-Man: Brand New Day post-credit scene means. It has left some fans fuming over the long wait after the end credits only to learn very little, but the post-credit moment has left others intrigued about the future possibilities in the franchise. According to some, it teases the return of Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man.
In a recent conversation with Screen Rant, however, Garfield dismissed the idea of his character returning to the Spider-Man franchise. "I do not (anything about it). First I've heard of it," Garfield said before adding, "Not the werewolf, not me."
Garfield also said that he does not know whether it teases Tobey Maguire's return to the franchise, although he added that it could even signify Miles Morales' appearance in the future instalment. It is worth noting that the previous film in the franchise, Spider-Man: No Way Home, features Holland, Maguire and Garfield's versions of the superhero in a multiverse narrative.
Holland has hinted at his return to the franchise with another film, whereas filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton has expressed his willingness to come back to the director's chair for it.
Also released with dubs in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has reportedly minted more than 300 crore in its opening weekend in India, registering the biggest collection in this period for any Hollywood film.
