The British videogame Atomfall will soon get a TV adaptation from the banners behind The Assassin and Fleabag, Rebellion, and Two Brothers Pictures. The game also originates from both labels.
The series adaptation comes after Atomfall's popularity among gamers. With over 3.7 million players since its launch last year, Atomfall has won Best British Game at this month's BAFTA Game Awards.
The game is the UK's take on the post-apocalyptic genre, borrowing from both British sci-fi and folk horror themes. The game opens with the protagonist waking up in the Quarantine Zone in England's Lake District, established after a nuclear incident, with no memory of how they arrived there. Except for the Lake District, the outside world is assumed to have a normal life.
Apart from producing, the Two Brothers label's writers-producers Harry and Jack Williams are penning the TV drama. Some of their other works include Liar, conspiracy thriller Strangers, Rellik, The Tourist, and Maya.
