In a curious case of the reel affecting the real, The Boys' Karl Urban reveals the unique event when he realised that the show is a big success. The fifth and final season of The Boys is currently streaming on Prime Video.
"I learned a long time ago it's dangerous to have expectations. I wouldn't say I had any expectations of the show, but I certainly had hopes. We were greenlit for a second season, and it slowly dawned on me that this show is a hit, and not just by the ratings numbers, but in day to day life," said Urban.
He added, "The interactions with people who are coming up and saying hey, I love your show, can I have my picture with you."
Urban goes on to share the realisations he had, which resulted in him accepting that show is a success. "It was this slow process as the show became more and more popular, directly proportional to the loss of anonymity then I knew we had reached a totally new threshold, which I had never experienced before, at the beginning of season three when there was a mole on set feeding scripts and information to the internet. It was wild."
Based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys is created by Eric Kripke, who serves as the showrunner. The cast includes Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, and Colby Minifie, among others. The final episode is set to premiere on May 13.
