Filmmaker Ben Leonberg, known for helming supernatural horror Good Boy, has now been attached to direct Ankle Snatcher, an adaptation of the eponymous short story by horror author Grady Hendrix.
Leonberg is rewriting Hendrix's adaptation with his writing partner Alex Cannon. The short story follows a man haunted by the childhood trauma of his mother's death, which his father blames on a boogeyman. The man realises that this creature could be real.
Coming from Sony, Ankle Snatcher will be produced by Todd Black, Tony Shaw, and Jason Blumenthal under Escape Artists, and Hendrix and Adam Goldworm for Aperture Entertainment.
Leonberg made his feature debut with Good Boy, a haunted-house film told from the perspective of a family dog. He also has two shorts to his credit: Bears Discover Fire (2015) and The Fisherman's Wife (2016).
