A spontaneous style change by Timothy Simons has unexpectedly made its way into the narrative of Nobody Wants This Season 3, blurring the line between off-screen antics and on-screen storytelling.

The actor revealed that after he bleached his hair platinum blonde “for fun” ahead of the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, the show’s writers quickly decided to incorporate the look into his character Sasha’s arc. “All the writers saw it that night and wrote it into the show,” Simons shared, adding, “We’re shooting right now, so there’s no way to hide it. They didn’t tell me to wear a hat."

Rather than treating it as a temporary change, Simons has embraced the new look. “Honestly, I love it. I would let it grow all the way out, and it gave me a good excuse to keep it going,” he said.

The creative decision also aligns with Sasha’s current emotional trajectory. Following the Season 2 finale, where Esther (played by Jackie Tohn) expresses her desire to separate and rediscover herself, the character’s transformation, including the bold hair choice, reflects a man navigating a personal upheaval.

Netflix renews Nobody Wants This for another season

Nobody Wants This is headlined by Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, who will return as Joanne and Noah in season three. While the former stars as an agnostic podcaster, the latter plays a rabbi, both of whom fall in love. Apart from Simons and Tohn, the supporting cast also comprises Justine Lupe, Michael Hitchcock, Stephanie Faracy, Paul Ben-Victor, Tovah Feldshuh, Sherry Cola, and D’Arcy Carden.

Production for the third season began last month in Los Angeles, with creator Erin Foster also stepping in front of the camera. The new season expands its ensemble with additions including Sarah Silverman, Andrew Rannells, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Avan Jogia, Poorna Jagannathan, Sadie Sandler, Stephanie Koenig and Steven Weber.
