JK Rowling had recently responded to Emma Watson's comments on their rift over her anti-trans stance, stating that she is in for all the spoof videos that are emerging after the Harry Potter star's latest remarks on the author.
Commenting on comedian IntelLady's parody video of Watson's recent interview where she said she will open to conversing with Rowling again despite their varying stance and ongoing issues, the author wrote on her X handle, "I’m already missing @intel_lady’s Angela Rayner, but I’m here for all the spoofs."
In the recent coversation with Jay Shetty on his On Purpose With Jay Shetty podcast, Watson said, "It's my deepest wish that I hope people who don't agree with my opinion will love me, and I hope I can keep loving people who I don't necessarily share the same opinion with."
Despite these issues, she said she is still able to "treasure Jo" and praised her for the "kindness and words of encouragement" she gave when she was growing up. She further added that she would never "cancel her out" and would be open to having a conversation with her.
Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger across all the eight Harry Potter movies, had been vocal against Rowling's transphobic views and disrespect towards the community. Her co-star Daniel Radcliffe had also publicly opposed Rowling underlining that trans people "deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are."
Rowling began posting anti-trans comments on her X handle in 2020. After the Harry Potter stars' comments, she said that she would "never forgive" them for supporting a movement that erodes "women's hard-won rights."
Watson was among the 1600 film and TV personalities who signed a letter standing in "solidarity with the trans, non-binary, and intersex communities" following the Supreme Court's rule which backed the 'biological' definition of a woman.
Emma Watson was last seen in Little Women in 2019. She is currently studying for a MSt in creative writing at Oxford.
