
Earlier we reported that the latest adaptation of the Miami Vice film will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, who has directed Top Gun: Maverick (2022) and F1 (2025), amongst other things. The latest update about the project is that, Glen Powell and Michael B Jordan are in talks to headline the film, according Nexus Point News.
Miami Vice was a crime drama TV series, which was created by Anthony Yerkovich. It consisted of five seasons which aired from 1984 to 1989. Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas led the series playing Detective Sonny Crockett and Detective Rico Tubbs, respectively. The series followed Sunny and Rico undercover in the city of Miami, USA, as turbulence in crime fighting and their personal lives, weigh down upon the pair.
Director Michael Mann, who was a producer on the TV series later directed a film, starring Colin Farrell as Sonny and Jamie Foxx as Rico, which was released in 2006.
Powell who was last seen in Twisters (2024), will be seen next in Edgar Wright's The Running Man. The film which is an adaptation of Stephen King's novel of the same name sees Powell being hunted down by the assassins of the world. The Running Man, will release theatrically on November 14. Jordan, who had a dual role in Ryan Coogler's Sinners (2025), will direct, produce, and star in The Thomas Crown Affair.
