After the success of Eras Tour, Taylor Swift is once again returning to theatres with her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl. The event, titled as a "release party event" will hit theatres from October 3, the same day her album releases, to 5th.
Releasing a never-before-seen poster for the album-cum-film, she said that the world premiere of her music video for the new single 'The Fate of Ophelia', will have "behind-the-scenes footage of how we made it, cut by cut explanations of what inspired this music, and the brand new lyric videos from my new album."
The film will be released across all AMC Theatres given her ongoing deal with AMC Theatres Distribution to handle her big-screen product. They had also handled for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour in 2023, which was critically acclaimed and became the highest-grossing concert film of all time, earning $267.1 million in its limited theatrical run worldwide. During the time, Swift had bypassed studios to partner with AMC and Cinemark Theatres which worked hugely in her favour.
The Life of a Showgirl is Taylor Swift's 12th album and contains 12 songs. Several regions will host the “release party” at the same time as the film’s US debut from October 3-5. This includes Canada, Mexico, the UK, France, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
For other countries not mentioned, the film will arrive on a later weekend in October, with exact dates expected to be announced around October 3.
It is during the same time that Dwayne Johnson's The Smashing Machine is releasing in theatres along with the limited rerelease of Avatar: The Way of Water in IMAX.
