Filming is officially underway on Run, an independent feature directed by Melissa Miller Costanzo, best known for her Tribeca-premiering debut, All These Small Moments.
Adapted from Barrie Levitt Knee’s debut novel Plain Jane, the film centres on Jane Cooper (Sarah Levy), a woman determined to finish the Garden State Marathon while juggling personal upheavals—a disintegrating marriage, the looming loss of her closest friend, and a pivotal life choice she can no longer avoid. The story, infused with humour, heart, and a carefully curated playlist, examines morality, resilience, and the pursuit of self-discovery.
The cast is led by Levy (Schitt’s Creek), Phillipa Soo (Hamilton), and Adam Pally (Happy Endings). Soo, who earned a Tony Award nomination for originating Eliza in Hamilton and won the Lucille Lortel Award in 2015, was most recently seen as Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl. Pally, an actor, comedian, and writer, remains a fan favourite for his role as Max Blum in the ABC comedy Happy Endings. Levy, meanwhile, is widely recognised as Twyla Sands from the Emmy-winning series Schitt’s Creek.
Behind the scenes, the film is produced by Barrie Levitt Knee of B’s Knees, LLC, along with Matt Jensen, while Jax Kossar serves as executive producer.
Miller Costanzo’s credits also include directing Universal’s romantic comedy The List. Earlier in her career, she worked in the art department on acclaimed films such as Precious, The Fighter, and If Beale Street Could Talk.
