The chaotic world of Yates University isn’t closing its doors just yet — Amazon Prime Video has officially picked up Overcompensating for a second season.
Benito Skinner, who created the series and stars as Benny, will once again return to write, executive produce, and lead the ensemble. Reflecting on the news, Skinner said, "WE’RE OFFICIALLY GOING BACK 2 SCHOOL. Thank you so much for all your insane love for this show. And thank you for being so patient while Daddy’s been cooking season 2. One guy at Hudson News told me he’s watched it 7 times… that’s mental illness my love <3"
Overcompensating follows Benny, a closeted former football star and homecoming king, as he forges an unlikely friendship with Carmen (Wally Baram), a determined outsider desperate to fit in. With the help of Benny’s older sister (Mary Beth Barone) and her campus-famous boyfriend (Adam DiMarco), the duo navigates everything from awkward hookups to flavoured vodka-fuelled nights and questionable fake IDs.
The core cast features Skinner, Baram, Barone, DiMarco, and Rish Shah, while recurring players include Holmes, Corteon Moore, Owen Thiele, and Nell Verlaque. Guest stars such as Connie Britton, Kyle MacLachlan, Kaia Gerber, and Andrea Martin also appear across the series.
Behind the scenes, Scott King serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Jonah Hill, Matt Dines, and Ali Goodwin producing for Strong Baby. Charli XCX also returns as executive music producer, alongside Josh Bachove and Daniel Gray Longino.
