Prime Video is set to expand its lineup of Christian-themed programming with the upcoming animated comedy The Chosen Adventures. The streamer has officially ordered 14 episodes, each running 11 minutes, with a global premiere scheduled for October 17.
The project comes from Amazon MGM Studios in collaboration with 5&2 Studios, the production company behind the hit series The Chosen. All episodes will roll out in the U.S. and internationally, including the U.K., Latin America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Chosen Adventures introduces audiences to nine-year-old Abby and her best friend Joshua, who grow up in the ancient city of Capernaum. Their lives take a magical turn when they meet a kind teacher and craftsman, Jesus of Nazareth, who inspires them to see the world differently. Together, they begin spreading his influence far and wide—helped by a talking sheep and a feathered sidekick.
Leading the voice cast are Paul Walter Hauser as Sheep and Yvonne Orji as Pigeon. They are joined by Romy Fay as Abby, Jude Zarzaur as Joshua, Danny Nucci as Abba, and Zehra Fazal as Eema.
Behind the scenes, Ryan Swanson serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Dallas Jenkins, creator of The Chosen, executive produces through 5&2 Studios alongside Chris Juen, Chad Gundersen, Keith Alcorn, Kellen Erskine, and Derral Eves. Erin Elizabeth Gardner is on board as producer, with Myesha Gosselin as co-producer.
The announcement follows Jenkins’ earlier reveal in a 2024 interview with Variety that an animated extension of The Chosen was in development. It also builds on 5&2’s ongoing partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, which includes the upcoming series Joseph of Egypt as well as Amazon’s exclusive streaming rights and theatrical releases for new installments of The Chosen.
The order for The Chosen Adventures arrives alongside Prime Video’s newly unveiled Wonder Project subscription service and the second-season premiere of House of David, further solidifying Amazon’s investment in faith-based storytelling.
