Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas' upcoming film Power Ballad, directed by John Carney, is all set to be released in June next year, revealed Lionsgate Studios.
In the film, co-written by Carney and Peter McDonald, Rick (Rudd), a past-his-prime wedding singer, meets fading boy-band star Danny (Jonas) during a gig. The two bond over music and a late-night jam session. But when Danny turns one of Rick's songs into the hit that reignites his career, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves - even if it means risking everything he cares about.
Touted to be a feel-good entertainer, Power Ballad promises to carry themes of music, self-respect, friendship, and the price of ambition.
Apart from co-writing the film, Peter McDonald will also be seen in a key role. Marcella Plunkett, Havana Rose Liu, and Jack Reynor are also part of the cast. The film is backed by Anthony Bregman, John Carney, Peter Cron, Rebecca O’Flanagan and Robert Walpole. 30West, which is financed the project, also serves as the executive producer of Power Ballad.
The film hits theatres on June 5, 2026 and will clash with Travis Knight's Masters of the Universe film and Peter Atencio's Animal Friends.
