Actor Demi Moore recently revealed that she was eight months pregnant during the preproduction phase of A Few Good Men, her 1992 film with director Rob Reiner and co-stars Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson, among others. Speaking at the recent New Yorker Festival, Moore said that Cruise found it "a bit awkward" to see her pregnant at the time and "was quite embarrassed" about it. Moore attributed it to the uncommonness of an actor in Hollywood working and managing her pregnancy at the same time. According to Moore, many Hollywood actors did not have kids back then because they felt pressured to decide between pursuing their careers and embracing motherhood.
"It's one of the many things, for me, that I just felt didn't make sense. And so I challenged that to say, you know, ‘Why not? Why can't you have both?’" Moore declared. She added, "But with that, I think, came a lot of pressure I put on myself to, in a sense, prove that it was possible."
Moore also shared that a pregnant woman working in Hollywood did not garner as much support back then as it does today. "You know, to be breastfeeding and then blocking and rehearsing a scene," Moore said referring to the challenge that comes with the process.
