The upcoming Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake from A24 has completed shooting, revealed showrunner Brad Caleb Kane, executive producer and co-showrunner of It - Welcome to Derry.
Sharing a few pictures from the party origanised following the series' completion, he wrote, "Crystal Lake wrap party was epic! I’m madly in love with and totally in awe of this stellar bunch of artists and humans. A fella couldn’t ask for a more talented and wonderful group of collaborators. S1 (almost sorta not quite) done and dusted. More please and thank you."
The new series is the first project in the slasher film franchise in 16 years. While the original movie released in 1980, the last film was Marcus Nispen's Friday the 13th reboot movie, which released in 2009. It was the 12th film instalment in the franchise.
Callum Vinson plays young Jason Voorhees in the upcoming series while Linda Cardellini stars as Pamela Voorhees from the franchise. The other actors part of the series are William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. Nick Cordileone plays Crazy Ralph, Danielle Kotch takes on the role of Claudette, and Phoenix Parnevik portrays Barry — all characters originally seen in the first Friday the 13th film.
Nancy Nagrant steps into the role of Kay Christy, a relative of Steve Christy from the 1980 film, while Joy Suprano is part of the cast as well.
Cameron Scoggins too expressed his happiness on his Instagram post, and wrote, "What a journey since June! To be a part of Crystal Lake has been the dream of a lifetime. Thank you to A24 & Peacock for the opportunity. Thank you to the incredible crew for being the best group of people to be around everyday. And huge thanks to the true maestro Brad Caleb Kane who has taken on this legendary franchise with such respect, wit and infectious enthusiasm. Ya’ll ain’t ready for what this man is about to give you."
The eight-episode series is helmed by Michael Lennox, Celine Held and Logan George, and Quyen Tran. Crystal Lake is expected to follow Cardellini’s Voorhees, a former singer who gave up her career to raise her special-needs son, and whose life takes a dark turn after his loss.
Lennox is also serving as the executive producer along with A24, Marc Toberoff, Victor Miller, Robert M Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, Stuart Manashil and Tyson Bidner.
