
Susan Kendall Newman, Hollywood legend Paul Newman's daughter, passed away at the age of 72. Also an actor and a producer, Newman's family revealed that she died of chronic health issues on August 02 this year. Born to Paul Newman's first spouse Jackie Witte, the actor's most popular role is in director Robert Zemeckis' 1978 film I Wanna Hold Your Hand. In the film, she plays a teenager, who along with her five siblings, tries to make her way into The Ed Sullivan Show to catch The Beatles' debut performance on the show.
Newman also appeared in films such as A Wedding, directed by Robert Altman, and Slap Shot in smaller roles. In Slap Shot, a film that centres on hockey and that also stars her legendary father, Newman appears in the role of a pharmacist. The actor earned a nomination for producing the TV movie The Shadow Box at the 33rd Primetime Emmy Awards as well.
She also produced a series of audio recordings of literary classics for the publishing company Simon and Schuster, and it received a Grammy nod in the best spoken word album for children category. She is remembered for her charity work and social activism as well. As a social activist, more recently, the actor specialised in juvenile justice, health care, conservation, and education.
