Filmmaker George Nolfi, who wrote and directed The Adjustment Bureau, starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt, is collaborating with Sharad Devarajan of Graphic India to develop an Indian adaptation of sci-fi romantic thriller.

Devarajan, founder and CEO of Graphic India, is best known for developing the acclaimed animated series The Legend of Hanuman (2021-2025). He will produce the project alongside Nolfi.

The movie explored the conflict between love and predestined fate through the story of a politician and a dancer who defy a mysterious organization controlling human destiny. Upon release, the film was a hit among audiences and grossed over $127 million at the box office.

Nolfi's credits including working as a screenwriter on well-known films like Timeline (2003), Ocean's Twelve (2004), The Sentinel (2006) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), among others. Apart from The Adjustment Bureau, he has directed Allegiance (2015), Birth of the Dragon (2016), The Banker (2020) and Elevation, which was released last year.

In a statement, Nolfi said, "India’s rich philosophical and spiritual traditions offer an incredible canvas to explore the themes of destiny and free will that are at the heart of The Adjustment Bureau."

He further added, "Knowing Sharad well, and his work transforming global properties while staying true to their essence, I couldn’t imagine a better creative partner to bring this uniquely Indian vision to life." Devarajan also shared his excitement on joining hands with George Nolfi. "The concepts of karma, dharma, and the eternal dance between fate and choice are deeply embedded in Indian culture," he said, echoing Nolfi's statement of how the film would be a perfect fit in an Indian setting.

Besides The Legend of Hanuman, Devarajan has also co-created the animated series Baahubali: The Lost Legends and Baahubali: Crown of Blood with filmmaker SS Rajamouli based on the film franchise. Notably, he was also the creative force behind Pavitr Prabhakar, the Indian Spider-Man featured in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
