
The cast of Weapons director, Zach Cregger's upcoming Resident Evil reboot is expanding. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kali Reis, Zach Cherry, and Johnno Wilson are joining the upcoming film.
Austin Abrams, who was seen in Weapons, is leading the cast with The Fantastic Four: The First Steps' Paul Walter Hauser also being part of the film. Reis, who was a former boxer, made her TV debut in True Detective: Night Country, the fourth season of the anthology series. She starred as a United States of America, State Trooper, alongside Jodie Foster.
Cregger has written the script for the Resident Evil film along with Shay Hatten. Robert Kulzer, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan are producing the film. Victor Hadida is serving as the executive producer for the film. PlayStation Productions, Vertigo Entertainment, TriStar Pictures, and Sony Pictures is backing the film.
The Resident Evil film series is based on the Japanese video game series of the same name. The original series, which starred Milla Jovovich as Alicia Marcus, began in 2002. Spanning six films, the series ended in 2022, with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. There was also a reboot in 2021, titled Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City.
