Noted actor Robert Pattinson recently spoke about portraying eccentric, intense, and daring characters, and how he’s now shifting toward more conventional roles. He shared these insights while promoting his upcoming film Die, My Love, co-starring Jennifer Lawrence, according to People.
Pattinson shared his difficulty on playing "normal" characters as he is used to playing several eccentric roles. "It is actually kind of difficult to play a normal person when you're used to playing freaks. At one point, I really wanted to play some normal guys," said Pattinson.
Many movies including the recent Mickey 17, directed by Bong Joon Ho has him playing unconventional characters. In 2022, he played a different version of Batman which was dark and brooding.
His upcoming film Die, My Love is directed by renowned Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay, who co-wrote the script with Enda Walsh and Alice Berch which is based on the book by Ariana Harwicz. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May and follows the characters of Jennifer Lawrence's Grace and Pattinson's Jackson, who spend time in a secluded home in Montana as Grace struggles with postpartum psychosis. Robert Pattinson plays her husband who is struggling to deal with her.
LaKeith Stanfield, plays a crucial role as her lover. Actors Sissy Spacek and Nick Nolte are also part of the cast.
The psychological drama is being released in theatres by Mubi on November 7. Die, My Love has the studio behind The Substance backing the film as well as Martin Scorsese.
