

Merv is depressed as Russ and Anna break up. So, he does everything in his power to bring his parents back together. This is the trailer for Merv, an upcoming Prime Video rom-com, unveiled by the streamer on Wednesday. The film stars Zooey Deschanel and Charlie Cox in lead roles.
After Anna (Zooey Deschanel) and Russ (Charlie Cox) break up, Merv, their dog, is very depressed and distant. A veterinarian doctor diagnoses that their breakup is the cause for its depression. Russ then volunteers to take him on a beach trip to cheer him up. But Anna is not able to stay away. As she also ends up going on the trip, sparks reignite between the couple, potentially hinting at them getting back together.
Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart have written Merv. Matt Baer and Roma Downey are the producers of the upcoming film. The romantic comedy is helmed by Jessica Swale. The film also stars Chris Redd, Patricia Heaton, David Hunt, Ellyn Jameson, Wynn Everett, Jasmine Mathews, Joey Slotnick, and the director herself. The film will premiere on Prime Video on December 10.
Deschanel is popularly known for her stint in Fox's sitcom, New Girl, in which she played the lead character, Jessica Day. She was last seen in Dreamin' Wild, co-starring Casey Affleck. She also had the release of Trolls Band Together, Harold and the Purple Crayon and the TV show Physical.
Charlie Cox gained widespread recognition for playing Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the Marvel Netflix series Daredevil (2015-2018) and reprised the role in The Defenders (2017) and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022). Cox's notable film credits include The Merchant of Venice (2004), The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010), and Stardust (2007).
