There is a common perception in Hollywood that if Tom Cruise runs for a specific length in a film, it would become commercially successful. Remember when he sprinted through a riverside walkway in the blockbuster film Mission: Impossible 3? Now, when a review for The Running Man comes from the action hero himself, people consider it a strong piece of endorsement. We are, of course, talking about the remake of Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1987 film, starring Glen Powell in the lead role.
Cruise attended a premiere of the film in London with his Top Gun: Maverick co-star Powell, its director Edgar Wright, and other actors Colman Domingo, Lee Pace, and Emilia Jones. Cruise took to social media to share some pictures featuring him with them and wrote, "Another great night out with my friends at the movies! You guys crushed it, congratulations! I laughed, was on the edge of my seat, and ate way too much popcorn."
Paramount Pictures France responded to Cruise's post, writing, "The running men!" Meanwhile, IMAX described Cruise's appreciation post as "the ultimate stamp of approval" for the film.
Cruise and Powell starred in 2022's Top Gun: Maverick. In fact, Powell was reluctant to star in a small role in the film until Cruise convinced him.
