Production on the teenage comedy Brian, which stars Ben Wang and marks actor Will Ropp's maiden feature film, has been completed in Oklahoma, reports Variety. In the film, written by Mike Scollins of Late Night with Seth Meyers fame, Wang plays an "acerbic, accident-prone high school student" named Brian who competes to be the president of his class “in an attempt to get closer to his teacher.”

The cast also includes William H Macy as a therapist who, along with another student, helps Brian deal with a campaign even as he tries to maintain his peace of mind. Randall Park, Edi Patterson, and Natalie Morales are also part of the cast.

Speaking about the film, Ropp said, "Directing this project was intensely personal, as I saw so much of my own struggles with anxiety and self-discovery reflected in the story. Through Brian’s journey, I wanted to capture the subtle, often messy process of growing up and finding one’s voice in a world that can feel overwhelming; this film is not just about a boy coming of age, but about the courage it takes to embrace who you are."

Seth Meyers serves as an executive producer for the film, alongside Act 4 Artists' Danielle Lauder and Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions' Jason Carden and Mike Shoemaker. It is produced by Handsome Watson's representative Thomas Mahoney, Act 4 Artists' Casey Hanley, and Ropp under the Endless Ropportunities banner.

American Born Chinese star Wang’s future projects are Karate Kid: Legends, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, and The Long Walk.
