The Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere, starring Jeremy Allen White in the titular role, is slated for a theatrical release on October 24 through 20th Century Studios. This timing positions the Scott Cooper directorial strategically within the awards season. Cooper is directing the film from his own screenplay, based on Warren Zanes’ eponymous book.
The release date announcement comes a month after the unveiling of the first trailer for Deliver Me From Nowhere at CinemaCon, featuring White passionately performing Springsteen's renowned anthem, 'Born to Run'. White expressed his enthusiasm for the project, calling it a "dream come true" and noting that the film has Springsteen's approval. Jeremy Strong stars in the film as Jon Landau, Springsteen’s longtime manager and record producer.
Deliver Me From Nowhere delves into the creation of Springsteen's 1982 album, 'Nebraska', widely considered a landmark achievement in music. The ensemble cast also includes Stephen Graham, Paul Walter Hauser, Odessa Young, Gaby Hoffmann, Harrison Gilbertson, Johnny Cannizzaro, David Krumholtz, Chris Jaymes, and Marc Maron.
Cooper and Zanes serve as producers, alongside Scott Stuber and Gotham Group’s Eric Robinson and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein. Notably, both Springsteen and Landau are involved in the making of the film.
Prolific record producer Dave Cobb, known for his collaborations with Springsteen, Brandi Carlile, and Jason Isbell, is contributing to the film's music. The October 24th release date places Deliver Me From Nowhere alongside other anticipated films, including the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel Regretting You, Mortal Kombat 2, and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia, starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.
There have been many music biopics in Hollywood of late, including Bob Marley: One Love and A Complete Unknown, the Oscar-nominated Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothee Chalamet. Further down the line, Sony is developing a comprehensive four-film project based on The Beatles, with the first instalment expected in theaters in April 2028.
Bruce Springsteen's illustrious career has earned him numerous accolades, including 20 Grammy Awards, a Special Tony Award, and an Academy Award, leaving him just one Emmy Award away from achieving the 'EGOT' status. His famous live performances are the subject of the 2024 documentary, Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
