
The cast of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is adding Maya Hawke and Lili Taylor, reported Deadline. The film is based on Suzanne Collins' novel of the same name, which was published in 2025.
Set on the morning of the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games.
In the film, Maya Hawke plays Wiress and Lili Taylor plays Mags. Both are former champions who are mentors for District 12.
The rest of the cast of the film includes Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, and Kelvin Harrison Jr as Beetee.
Francis Lawrence is directing the film from a script by Billy Ray. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are serving as producers, with Cameron MacConomy serving as the executive producer of the film. Lionsgate and Color Force are backing the film.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set to release theatrically on November 20, 2026.
