The Office's Zach Woods is set to make his directorial debut with The Accompanist. Susan Sarandon, Aubrey Plaza, and Everly Carganilla are set to star, reports Deadline.
The story of The Accompanist centres around a nine-year-old Emily, who lets slip to her school nurse that her grandfather, who is suffering from dementia, almost killed her. She is placed in the care of Sylvia, her new foster parent, after a new child welfare agent, Sarah, takes Emily out of her home in a botched extraction.
In The Accompanist, Carganilla plays Emily, Sarandon portrays Sylvia, and Plaza plays Sarah. Sarandon is known for her Oscar-winning performance in Tim Robbins's Dead Man Walking. Plaza projects include Parks and Recreation, Marvel's Agatha All Along, Black Bear, and Legion.
Known for his performances in the US adaptation of The Office, Silicon Valley, and Veep, Zach Woods has also written the film with Brandon Gardner. He is producing the film with Lauren Bratman, Allison Hironaka, Aubrey Plaza, Michael Sagol, and Carlos Zozaya.
