Leonardo DiCaprio is on a relentless pursuit to find his daughter in Paul Thomas Anderson's upcoming film One Battle After Another. The initial few moments of the trailer for the film released by Warner Bros, shows DiCaprio playing Bob Ferguson, a former revolutionary who is on a payphone to request help from some unknown person. His memory doesn't help him remember the right passwords but all he can recollect is how Steve Lockjaw attacked his house and wants to save his missing daughter.
Benicio del Toro plays Ferguson's sensei who imparts some wisdom to him on how he should live life courageously. We also see glimpses from his past and his marriage with another brave revolutionary. Having once fought in the war, it seems like Ferguson is ready to fight one again for the life of his daughter.
The cast of One Battle After Another, which is expected to be inspired from Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel Vineland, also includes Alana Haim (Licorice Pizza), Shayna McHayle, and Wood Harris. The film reunites Anderson with composer Johnny Greenwood after five previous collaborations.
Filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson is making a comeback after 2021's Licorice Pizza with One Battle After Another. It is to be noted that the upcoming project will mark the first time Anderson will be working with DiCaprio. Earlier, the actor was supposed to have featured in Paul's Boogie Nights in 1996. However, the role went to Mark Wahlberg since DiCaprio was shooting for Titanic.
Besides directing, Paul will also serve as the film's writer as well as producer. The film's producing credits are also shared by Sara Murphy and the late Adam Somner. The film, which is said to be the filmmaker's most expensive project to date, is slated for a September 26 release.
