Setting her sights on producing films, Jennifer Salke will quit her role as head of Amazon MGM Studios' head. The announcement was made in the internal mail by the head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, Mike Hopkins.
She will start a production outfit with an overall first-look deal across film and TV. The studio will not be finding a replacement for Salke but instead, head of film Courtenay Valenti and head of TV Vernon Sanders will report to Hopkins.
Salke joined Amazon in 2018, when the tech giant was expanding its entertainment operations. She served as the president of entertainment at NBC and had stints in television at 20th Century Fox and Aaron Spelling Productions television.
Her tenure witnessed huge transitions in the studio, such as the acquisition of MGM in 2021 and bagging the creative rights of the James Bond franchise. She has been a part of hit films like This Is Us, Glee, Road House, The Idea of You, and Saltburn. She also oversaw the launch of the Lord of the Rings TV series, Rings of Power, which, however, wasn't overwhelmingly well-received.
