One of the favourite film franchises, Downton Abbey, will get a final installment this year with Simon Curtis back to the director's duty after helming the 2022 sequel Downton Abbey: New Era.

The third and final installment has been titled Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale and is slated for a theatrical release on September 12 this year.

The British historical drama got a poster featuring Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) captioned, "It's time to say goodbye." Curtis will direct the film with the screenplay by Julian Fellowes, the creator of the TV series and writer of the first two films.

The star cast of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale includes Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Hugh Bonneville, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Michael Fox, Robert James-Collier, Allen Leech, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Joanne Froggatt, Paul Giamatti, Harry Hadden-Paton, Arty Froushan, Joely Richardson, Lesley Nicol, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, Dominic West, Penelope Wilton, Paul Copley, and Douglas Reith.

The first two films, Downton Abbey (2019) and Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022), were successful at the box office with a combined global collection of over $280 million.
