Regina Hall hints at return to Scary Movie franchise

Hall appeared in the first four instalments in the Scary Movie series but missed out in the fifth one

In October last year, we reported about the Wayans Brothers, the Scary Movie franchise creators, coming back for another film in the horror spoof series. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, actor Regina Hall suggested that she might reprise her role as Brenda Meeks in the upcoming instalment in the franchise. Addressing speculation about her return to the franchise at her film O'Dessa's premiere, Hall said, "That is what I am hearing. So we will see." The actor also added that Scary Movie was her first major role and that working on it was "a dream come true" for her as "a fan of Keenen Ivory Wayans and the Wayans brothers."

Scary Movie films parody earlier horror features, such as I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream, to name two. Hall appeared in the first four instalments in the Scary Movie series but missed out in the fifth one. The sixth Scary Movie film is not only written by Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans, but it is also produced by them alongside Rick Alvarez.

The upcoming project comes under a first-look deal between Paramount Pictures and Miramax. Recently, Dave Sheridan stated that his character Ghostface would come back but it would not be him in the role. "Marlon (Wayans) already confirmed that by taking a photo with a Ghostface and that is not me in that photo," Sheridan said. The makers are yet to reveal further details about the film's plot and cast. Paramount Pictures is distributing the next Scary Movie instalment, with Miramax financing it.
