Amazon MGM Studios, which has bought the rights to Kevin Cook's book, The Tiger Slam: The Inside Story of the Greatest Golf Ever Played, is developing the biopic of Tiger Woods to be adapted from the book. The Obamas, Barack and Michelle, are in talks to produce the film under their Higher Ground banner, along with Winkler Films.

Acclaimed director Reinaldo Marcus Green, who earned six Oscar nominations for King Richard, including a Best Actor win for Will Smith, is set to direct the highly anticipated biopic.

While Woods has just undergone Achilles surgery, with scandals and injuries making up for the latter years of his career, the film is set to focus on his four consecutive victories in major championships, titled the Tiger Slam. Cook, a former Sports Illustrated senior editor and Gulf Magazine editor-in-chief, has included accounts from Wood's caddie, coach, supporters, and opponents in his biography.

Tiger Woods' career spiralled into turmoil following his father Earl Woods' passing, as he struggled to cope with grief, sex addiction, and the physical toll of his demanding golf career. Woods then attempted to return to pro golf after the rise and fall of his career but has been constantly facing obstacles in the form of consistent injuries and surgeries.

Reportedly, the controversial sides of his personal life will not be portrayed in the upcoming biopic. After his numerous extramarital affairs came to light in 2009, many companies, including Accenture, AT&T, Gatorade, and General Motors, ended their sponsorship deals with the athlete. In 2017, he was arrested for drunken driving and met with and survived a serious car accident in 2021, whilst sustaining multiple injuries to the leg. While he took a long break from golf, he made a comeback after 11 years by winning the 2019 Masters.

Previously, HBO made a two-part series titled Tiger, which aired in 2021. Based on Jeff Benedict and Armen Keteyian's 2018 book Tiger Woods, the documentary dived deep into the pinnacle, downfall, and comeback of the sportsman's career.
