Hope Studios' Fredrik Wikstrom Nicastro, who after delivering a heartwarming film A Man Called Otto (2022), led by Tom Hanks, is yet again set to bring a life-altering story to the screen.
Nicastro has acquired the film adaptation rights of Robin Sharma's self-help book The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari. The book based on Sharma's quest for life's real purpose is about a lawyer, Julian Mantle, who is forced to face life's undesirable turn after enduring a personal tragedy. The book, published in 1999, was translated into 70 languages and sold over 10 million copies.
Fredrik was a part of the SF Studios when A Man Called Otto was made. He launched his own company, Hope Studios, in 2023. He boasts an experience of 18 years and 20 films in film production. This project comes as a big pick for the company in its early stages.
Speaking about the book, Fredrik said, according to Variety, that he is a "huge fan" of Robin's book. He added that the book deals with what is important in life, about its meaning and purpose, and carries a "very uplifting message" about being able to grow through friendship and to enjoy the journey of life.
The feature adaptation will follow John, "an impatient and egocentric young lawyer," who suspects that his legal idol Julian Mantle's drive is waning since his return to his firm after "vanishing" from the scene for years. The story will deal with Julian's transformation, the unexpected friendship between John and Julian, and a journey of self-discovery in both of their lives.
