Prime Video's Nicole Kidman starrer Scarpetta has cast actor Charlie B Foster for the series, reports Deadline. Scarpetta is based on Patricia Cornwell's novel series Kay Scarpetta, which is about the eponymous medical examiner inspired by a real-life medical examiner named Marcella Farinelli Fierro.
This is Foster's first major role. He previously starred in Nyad, alongside his mother Jodie Foster, who played Bonnie Stoll. In Scarpetta, he plays the titular character Kay Scarpetta's (Nicole Kidman) assistant in the mortuary.
Scarpetta also stars Jamie Lee Curtis as Dorothy Scarpetta, Kay's sister, alongside Ariana DeBose, Bobby Cannavale, Simon Baker, Rosy McEwen, Amanda Righetti, Jake Cannavale, Hunter Parrish, Sosie Bacon, Janet Montgomery, Tiya Sircar, Anna Diop, Graham Phillips, Mike Vogel, Stephen Faracy.
The series is created by Liz Sarnoff, who will serve as its showrunner and writer. Kidman will serve as an executive producer along with Per Saari under their Blossom Films banner. Curtis will also serve as executive producer under her Comet Pictures. Other executive producers for the series are Blumhouse's Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie, and Chris McCumber.
This continues Nicole Kidman's collaboration with Prime Video, after Mimi Cave's Holland, which saw the release of its trailer online. While a release date for season one of Scarpetta is not announced, Prime Video confirmed season two for the series.
