Fresh off the success of Wicked: Part 1, Cynthia Erivo has come onboard Lionsgate's upcoming action thriller Karoshi. The film comes from 87Eleven and will also star Teo Yoo and Isabel May in prominent roles.
Chad Stahelski, Alex Young, and Jason Spitz are backing Karoshi under the 87Eleven banner through their Liongate deal. Set to go on floors in June, the film is all set to be helmed by Takashi Doscher from his own script.
While plot and character details are undisclosed, Karoshi is billed to be a corporate thriller featuring a samurai twist. Doscher is known for helming films like A Fighting Chance, Still, and Only.
Set to reprise her role as Elphaba Thropp in the second part of Jon M Chu's Wicked, Erivo recently unveiled a track titled 'Replay,' from her upcoming album. She will next be seen as a set of sextuplets in the second season of Peacock's Poker Face. She is currently filming for the film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi's Children of Blood and Bone, by Gina Prince-Bythewood. In June 2025, she will be seen hosting the Tony Awards. In the theatre world, she will be seen as Jesus in the Hollywood Bowl production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Wicked: For Good, the second part, is set to hit theatres on November 21, 2025.
